Hannah Cosgrove

Hannah is mainly a fashion and portrait photographer but experiments in other genres. Identity and self-expression are themes she enjoys exploring in her practice. Her portraiture in particular demonstrates her approach towards working playfully and imaginatively with people, creating a strong feeling of personality and intimacy.

Emily

Emily explores how the pandemic has created feelings of disconnection between parts of ourselves, both emotionally and socially, and also between places. Emily has a mixed cultural heritage based on her family in Ireland and Mexico. The project foregrounds the disconnect she has experienced in relation to Mexico because of Covid. We decided to form a creative working relationship, where I would photograph and she would respond through drawing. The idea was to use the collaboration to reconnect to those parts of ourselves through images, drawing, discussions and activities such as creating mango flowers that are usually carved by vendors selling fruit on the streets of Mexico City. The project is about focusing on the parts of ourselves that bring us joy but which we might not prioritise.
