Pawel Konkol

I am a 21 year old Polish photographer. My work is a combination of the tradition of art photography with contemporary influences. I value my meticulousness in capturing chaos in an orderly fashion. I like to create aesthetic and interesting images, and it often varies in content. Canonised photographers who's work I admire are Alexander Rodchenko and Paul Strand. More contemporary artists that inspire me include Rick Guest, Liam Wong, Timo Lemmetti, Nicolas Miller, Sinna Nasseri, Jonti Shepherd and Sarah van Rij just to name a few.

Beyond Our Senses

This is my newest project that tackles the topic of us, the people, being wilfully blind to systems running beneath the surface, systems that affect our daily lives. This particular series tackles surveillance. The quotes for this project (first 4 parts) have been derived from an interview of James Bridle about his 2017 project. It's my first semi-performative art project that involves both my own photographs and actual CCTV footage.

St. Audoen's Catholic Church

This documentary series examines my perspective into the life of the Polish Catholic community in St. Audoen's Church, Dublin. It explores the various activities performed by the two priests who have been a part of it for many years. This project was motivated by my wish to give back to the community that welcomed me and my family with open arms a decade ago, when we immigrated to Ireland.
